Giving unpaid carers a well-deserved break

We match West Yorkshire’s unpaid carers with quality, free breaks — generously given by businesses that care.

Rewarding dedication. Avoiding burnout.

We work to recognise the 400,000 unpaid carers in our region who quietly give so much — often at great personal cost. These are family members, friends, and neighbours who care for loved ones, without pay and all too often without recognition.

We give them something simple, yet so meaningful — a break. This is only made possible by the kindness of businesses that generously give breaks, experiences, and services that directly benefit this deserving community, where burnout is a constant risk.

Quality breaks to make a carers day

From hotels to hairdressers, cafés to cultural venues - a quality break is different for everyone.
For unpaid carers, breaks like these offer them the chance to catch their breath and prioritise their own well-being — enabling them to return to their responsibilities with renewed energy and a fresh perspective.

This makes a difference

Being able to take a break from caring is so important and can have a lasting, positive effect that ripples into all areas of life.

How it works

This project is powered by kindness. Whatever the gift, big or small, we will match a carer to a break that best suits their circumstance and taste.
1

A business gives a break

Willing businesses across the hospitality, leisure, tourism, and culture sectors gift breaks, experiences, and services free of charge.

2

We match the break

Our consortium of 5 local care organisations, which provide information, advice and support for carers, will match an individual with a break that suits their circumstances and tastes, and will provide the wrap-around support to enable the carer to step away.

3

The carer enjoys a break

On the date of the booking, the carer will come to your establishment, either by themselves, with a friend, family member, or person they care for, and enjoy some valuable time away from their caring routine.
